Travel, planetary and other-wise

arrivals and a significant departure

The past six weeks have been highly nomadic, a series of art-centered trips with Sara around Texas, and extending from Washington DC to Los Angeles, from where I write this today. The title of this edition is a play on words that Bill Dallas would have enjoyed—a little more about him below, and much more forthcoming.

Studio construction continues. The carpenters are methodical and accurate, and we are beginning to consider, or dream about, how we’ll organize our respective spaces.

My friend and road trip companion, artist Bill Dallas, passed away peacefully on October 21. He lived to paint, and music, specifically jazz, was both a center and a driving force of his practice. I’ve introduced many of you, dear readers, to him either in-person or through stories. I’ll write more in-depth about him next month.

Bill Dallas contemplates his next move (Austin, November, 2019)

Bill was an Air Force veteran, and was truly mid-air for a good part of his service—he played basketball on an Air Force team. I’ll close this month with this piece, a meditation for Armistice-Remembrance-Veterans Day, also known as “Taps.”

Peace, Love, and Art, Bill. One Love.
